Fourteen Years of Serving the Underserved: The SlewPro Story

Posted by Richard Potesta on Mon, Feb 2, 2026 @ 14:02 PM

When SlewPro was founded nearly fourteen years ago, it wasn’t built to compete head-to-head with the largest slewing ring bearing manufacturers in the world. It was built because working with them—especially as a small or mid-sized OEM—was often frustrating, slow, and impersonal.

That firsthand experience shaped everything that followed.

Built for Small and Mid-Sized OEMs

Large bearing suppliers do an excellent job serving high-volume, standardized applications. But for smaller OEMs designing custom machinery, support can be limited, lead times long, and flexibility almost nonexistent.

SlewPro was created specifically to serve that overlooked market: small to mid-sized OEMs who need real engineering support, responsiveness, and practical solutions—not just a catalog number.

From day one, our focus has been clear:

  • Work directly with engineers and designers
  • Support custom and semi-custom applications
  • Provide a level of service customers simply can’t get from the large players

Engineering Experience That Matters

Before SlewPro ever existed, its founder spent most of his career designing and building custom machinery. That background matters—because selecting a slewing ring bearing is rarely just a sizing exercise.

Loads, duty cycles, mounting constraints, deflection limits, cost targets, and real-world operating conditions all come into play. We understand that because we’ve been on the other side of the table—designing machines where the bearing choice could make or break the system.

Today, that experience is applied every time we work with a customer:

  • Helping engineers select the right bearing, not just an available one
  • Asking the practical questions that prevent problems later
  • Offering design guidance early when changes are still easy and inexpensive

Flexibility Beyond “Standard Sizes”

Most slewing ring bearings are marketed as standard products—until you need one small change. A different bolt pattern. A modified gear. A slight dimensional adjustment. Suddenly, “standard” becomes a problem.

Because SlewPro manufactures most parts to order, we can often accommodate modifications that other suppliers won’t consider. That flexibility allows customers to:

  • Adapt existing designs instead of starting over
  • Avoid costly redesigns to fit rigid catalog offerings
  • Optimize performance without unnecessary expense

Customization isn’t treated as an exception—it’s part of how we work.

Focused on Value, Lead Time, and the End Customer

Every decision we make is guided by the end customer:

  • How do we keep the product cost-competitive?
  • How do we deliver on a timeline that supports the customer’s build schedule?
  • How do we simplify the process instead of adding friction?

By staying focused on small and mid-sized OEMs, we avoid the complexity and overhead that often slow larger organizations. That allows us to be responsive, practical, and efficient—without sacrificing quality or performance.

Looking Ahead

As SlewPro enters its 14th year in business, the mission hasn’t changed. We are still here to support the engineers, designers, and OEMs who need more than a part number—they need a partner who understands their challenges and is willing to help solve them.

We’re proud of what we’ve built so far, and even more excited about what’s ahead.

If you’re a small or mid-sized OEM looking for slewing ring bearings—and a supplier who actually picks up the phone—we’d welcome the opportunity to work with you.

Case Study: SlewPro Partnership Saves Time & Money

When Wolf Robotics needed a quick turnaround on a new slewing bearing for a special project in 2017, SlewPro was the only company able to meet the time and specification requirements. The project met all requirements and was on budget, earning more trust from Wolf Robotics’ engineering team.
