Slewing Ring Crossovers Explained: Rotek, Kaydon, Rothe Erde and More

A crossover, or interchange, is a replacement bearing from another manufacturer that fits where the original did and does the same job. For slewing rings, a good crossover means the new bearing bolts into the existing structure, meshes with the existing pinion and carries the load, with no redesign.

What has to match

  • Envelope: outside diameter, inside diameter and heights of both rings.
  • Mounting: bolt circle diameters, number of holes, hole size or thread, and any pilots or spigots.
  • Gear: internal, external or none; tooth count, pitch (diametral pitch or module), pressure angle and any profile shift, so the existing pinion meshes correctly.
  • Design and capacity: the rolling-element design (single-row ball, double-row ball, crossed roller, triple-row roller) and load ratings that meet or exceed the original.
  • Details: seals, lubrication fittings, hardened raceways and corrosion protection.

A bearing that matches the envelope but not the capacity is not a crossover; it is a risk. That is why our engineers confirm every crossover before we quote, and list anything that differs from the original.

The brands we cross most

More than 800 SlewPro designs are crossed to more than 900 competitor part numbers from 33 brands. The largest groups:

  • Rotek: more than 300 part numbers
  • Kaydon: more than 200, including the MT series and, for thin section bearings, every Reali-Slim size (see crossing Kaydon thin section part numbers)
  • Rollix, Gear Products, Avon and Silverthin: around 45 to 50 each
  • SKF, PSL, INA and Rothe Erde
  • and Kinematics, Liebherr, Jost, IMO and others

How to look up your part

  1. Find the part number on the bearing, its tag or the machine's parts list.
  2. Type it into the slewing ring crossover search. Choose the brand if you know it.
  3. Open the SlewPro equivalent for its dimensions, drawing and CAD.
  4. Request a quote; our engineers confirm the crossover for your application.

Not listed? New crossovers are added often, and we can usually cross a bearing from its drawing or measurements. See replacing a discontinued slewing ring for what to send.

Crossing to the closest size, or the right one?

Sometimes the original was never quite right for the application. A crossover is a good moment to check. Read why "just give me the closest" costs you, and ask us whether a different design would last longer.
