A slewing ring bearing often outlives the company that sold it, the machine's documentation, or the part number on the parts list. When it finally needs replacing, the original may be discontinued, the manufacturer may have changed hands, or the bearing may have no readable marking at all. Usually the machine is down while you find out.
It is one of the most common requests we get. Here is what helps us identify the replacement fastest.
1. The part number, if you have it
A part number from any manufacturer is the quickest route. More than 900 competitor part numbers from 33 brands, including Rotek, Kaydon, Rollix, Avon, SKF, PSL, INA and Rothe Erde, are already mapped to SlewPro equivalents. Search the slewing ring crossover yourself, or send us the number.
Look for it stamped or etched on the outer or inner ring face, on a tag, or on the machine's parts list. A machine manufacturer's part number is useful too, even if it is not the bearing maker's.
2. The drawing
An old bearing drawing, or the machine drawing showing the bearing, gives us everything we need. Upload it here.
3. No number and no drawing? Measure it
If the bearing has no readable marking, these measurements identify most bearings:
- outside diameter and inside diameter
- overall height, and the height of each ring
- bolt circle diameter, number of holes and hole size (or thread) for each ring
- gear: internal or external, number of teeth, and the outside diameter over the teeth
- photos of the bearing, its cross section if visible, and any markings
Tell us about the machine too: what it is, what the bearing does, and roughly the load. That lets our engineers check the replacement is right for the application, not just the same size.
What we check before we quote
- Fit: dimensions, bolt patterns and gear match the original, so it bolts straight in.
- Capacity: load ratings meet or exceed the original's for your application.
- Differences: anything that differs from the original, such as seals, gear details or a ring height, is listed before you order, not discovered at installation.
Every SlewPro quote includes a 3D model and drawing, so you can check the fit against your machine straight away.
While you wait
If the old bearing failed, find out why before the new one goes in, or it may fail the same way. Our guide to common slewing ring bearing failures explains the usual causes, and the installation and maintenance checklist covers fitting the replacement.
